Easiest Holiday Foods to Transport
It’s that time of year again! With the holidays coming up, it is a time to gather with friends or family and enjoy good food. While we are always grateful for someone else to host the holiday gathering, it is still nice to bring something along to make things easier for the hosts. Of course, finding the right food item can be a challenge if you need to drive your Kia for several hours before reaching your designation. You don’t want to bring anything hot or cold due to food safety – and you want something that won’t leave a mess in your vehicle! Here are our suggestions:
While rolls or a loaf of chocolate banana bread are always best when they are hot out of the oven, they are still delicious at room temperature or can easily be reheated in the microwave when you reach your destination. Before you hit the road, all you need to do is stick them in a Ziploc bag or Tupperware container!
Most fruit pies like apple or blueberry travel very well at room temperature. Just stick them in a Tupperware pie saver or wrap them in a clean towel and you are good to go! We recommend avoiding pumpkin or lemon meringue pies (as much as we love them) or anything with cream cheese because those need to stay refrigerated.
Not everyone likes pie during the holidays and cakes or bars make a great alternative. And you don’t need to go all fancy for them to be delicious (and the fancier it is, the harder it is to transport). Even a simple 9×13 cake left in your Pyrex dish is a fantastic addition to a holiday party – and all you need to do is put the cover on! Just don’t spread on Cool-Whip or any frostings that require refrigeration.
Who doesn’t love holiday cookies? If you want to bring cookies to your next holiday gathering, just stick them in a Tupperware container and you are good to go! If you want to be a little fancier, arrange them on a platter and cover with Seran wrap.
Whether you choose store-bought candy canes or are going all out with homemade chocolate truffles, candy is perfect for holiday gatherings and can be transported in any container you have on hand. Just make sure that they are not placed directly in front of your Kia’s heater during the drive.
A bottle of wine is always a favorite host gift, and most can be transported at room temperature. Just be responsible and do not drink and drive.
From all of us here at Bridgewater Kia, have a fun and safe holiday season!
